How
Food Can Increase Your Metabolism
In the minds of most
of us metabolism is directly related to losing
weight.
We use our weight to
define our bodies.
We use dieting to
control our weight.
But what we must
remember is that dieting is not meant to be a lack of
food, but a way to moderate our eating and reduce our
intake of food.
You should be cautious
when considering fad diets such as Atkins, South Beach or
the Zone diet.
These diets require
that you completely give up certain types of
food.
Once you come off of
these diets and resume your normal eating habits you can
be assured that most if not all of the weight you lost
will eventually come back.
Food is a critical key to boosting your
metabolism. If you eat your
food in it’s natural form you can use food as a tool to
maintain your weight and create the body that you
want. When speaking of
natural foods I’m talking about eating fruits and
vegetables as close to their natural state as
possible. This is called raw
foods, and it is the best way to get all of the good
things that food has to offer. Eating fruit or
vegetables that have been canned is not a good idea for
weight loss. Canned fruits and
vegetables have been essentially stripped of most of
their vitamins and minerals. Even worse is that
the canning process adds syrups, sugars, and salts to
your food. Canning takes a
healthy food and turns it into something almost
completely unhealthy. Raw uncooked
fruits and vegetables are your best
choice.
Vegetables are best eaten raw
or steamed. Eating vegetables
this way ensures that you keep the vitamins and minerals
in the food intact. Cooking foods on
the stove or in the oven essentially cooks the nutrients
right out of them.
Processed foods are probably the worst
thing you can ingest if you want to increase your
metabolism and lose weight. You should also
avoid fried meat and any other fried food
entirely. The saturated fats
in fried and processed foods are dangerous for your body
and devoid of almost any nutrition
what-so-ever. Eating right can
give your metabolism an incredible boost that just can’t
be matched by pills and fad diets.
It is best that you eat small meals 3
times a day. Between meals you
may want to also include a small snack. Healthy between
meal snacks will aid in increasing your metabolism and
keep you from getting hungry until you can eat your next
meal. The more that you
ingest healthy foods on a daily basis the better your
chances of increasing your metabolism
substantially.
Eating the proper foods and a good dose
of daily exercise will ensure that you get the most from
your weight-loss efforts. The combination of
good nutrition and personal fitness are an excellent
one-two punch for increasing your metabolism
naturally.
